In the remote hack section there is the hack for the Hitachi DV-P415U. My question is whether or not this player will region lock after you do this several different times. I know that the DVD ROM drives lock after about 5 changes but do the stand alones do the same? If anyone knows specifically about this model or just stand alones in general it would be great to find out.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't have the answer to this question, but I've got another question about this subject.

Does that hack really work? I only have region 1 DVDs, but if I use this hack to change the player to region 2, it should refuse to read region 1 discs, right? Mine will read them anyway. With no sign of any region change, I'm thinking that the trick did not work. Is this a hoax, or is it me? Anyone got it to work?

    Thanks!

    Update:

I tried many variations of that method with a region 2 DVD (the first Astérix animated movie) on my region 1 player and it didn't work for me.

    It says:

    -----------------------------------------
    Open The DVD Drive
While Open, Press and hold Enter
Enter 1 for region 1 and so on
    Insert your region (1-6) DVD
    -----------------------------------------

The problem is that as soon as I press Enter, it closes the disc tray. I also tried to hold Enter with the tray closed, in case whoever posted the hack meant "turn on the player" on the first line. It didn't work either.

If someone got it to work, or didn't, feedback would be greatly appreciated, if only to let me know that I'm not alone in this world.

    Thanks.
