    a mac - osx I believe.

Anyhow, what format should I use to create the DVD-R on my PC (XP).

I dont think it matters really
Most Macs can read the standard PC format for disks

Ex. I have Windows 2000 Cd which will load and i can see the files themselves on my mac, just cant open them.

Dvd's (movies) authored on a pc will play fine on the mac also.

So i imagine if you put STD pc format on the DVD for data the mac will have no problem reading it for the data.

    hope this helps

    Yep
its going the other way thats an issue. Taking a data dvd burned on a mac and sticking it into a pc will cause problems. At least when i tried it, my pc said it wanted to format the disk, which means it cant read it.

So pc data dvd on a mac is ok
mac data dvd on a pc is not.

Depends on what program UR using.

    For example,
I just 2 minutes ago, opened Toast, created a new "DVD" title, dragged some files over, and burned a disc.

Took that disc to a PC, and it reads fine. Saw the 3 files, recognized 2 of the filetypes, couldn't open 1 cuz of resource fork.

DVD-ROM material is supposed to be ISO9660/UDF bridge, but supports other filesystems, incl. HFS.

If you didn't create a "DVD" title, but instead just used "Data / Files&Folders", it probably would want to create an HFS only-type disc.

If you're using Apple's disc burning app, who knows.

    HTH,
    Scott
