as topic says xp only see's my pioneer ao4 dvd-rw as a cd-rom
i have all the latest aspi drivers and software updates but still no joy, it says cdrom but dont read anything + it was fine this morn in my old p-2
p-4 2.5gig
512 ddr ram
xp home
120gig hdd

Do you have the DVD-R/RW device setup as MASTER on the secondary drive controller. It should never be setup as Slave.
Have you applied all the service packs for XP?Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge. -
My TDK Indi-dvd also shows up as a cd drive, but when I put a dvd in it, it reads and writes to it fine. Have you tried putting a dvd in the drive?

NOthing off the top of my head. Other then either trying to uninstall/reinstall it or reinstalling Windows XP. There is no driver because it doesn't need one so thats no the problem...hrm...

tried everything m8 even reintalled it back in my old p2 and it works fine in there

go into device manager and make sure win/xp (annoying c++p) has it enabled as a reccording device. It should say something like "enable writing on this device" obviously you should tick yes. Also try the inbuilt help..bleh!

Just guessing but try running "dxdiag" from the start/run menu and run the DX tests.

One final thought. Try using a ATA66 or 33 cable (80 pin) in place of the ATA100 or 133 data cable that you most likely are using.
