  1. I recently used Super DVDripper to generate a MPEG1 file, which I then loaded into TMPEGenc+ to convert from PAL to NTSC format. It worked just fine, but of course the video quality was not that great, so I tried the same thing using MPEG2.

Super DVD Ripper created the MPEG2 file just fine, and it was viewable on my PC using a .mpg file viewer. When I tried to load the MPEG2 file into TMPEGenc+, I got an error message:

File "E:\dvd-tmp-rip\test.mpg" can not open, or unsupported.

Is this a codec problem, or what? If it is, how do I fix it? If it isn't, do you have any other suggestions? Another ripper?

    Thanks

  2. First, it depends on which version of TmpGenc you are using. More recent versions will only open mpeg-2 files if you have certain mpeg-2 codecs installed. The one that comes with pwere dvd is one of them, you can download and install the demo to see if that helps.

If that doesn't fix the problem try increasing the priority of the directshow filter. Slect environmental settings, VFAPI tab. Right click direct show filter and select higher. repeat until the value is 3 or 4.

If this still doesn't work, get yourself a copy of virtualdub_mod and learn how to frameserve. Its quite simple really and there are guides on this site.

    Hope this helps.
