  1. Back a few years ago, I was in the market for a DVD recorder. I eventually got a Pioneer, which i'm very happy with. Unfortunately, while i was in the market for them, I did use a couple for a few days, to test out, before taking them back to the store. On one, a JVC dvd-recorder/vcr combo, i converted some very old tapes to DVD. The finished product was ok, but then i took the thing back to the store before finalizing the discs.

Is it possible at all to finalize the discs without using the original recorder? In this day and age, you would think there would be some software that would fix a disc, like if it needed finalized, it would use some sort of process to finalize the disc so it could be played on other equipment.

    Any suggestions?

You'd have to find a JVC or newer ES-series Panasonic recorder to finalize those JVC-made discs.

  3. If you can't find a way to finalize it, you might be able to recover the data with isobuster.

Just a thought but if it is only a few DVD discs then you might be able to use a retail store display model if you can find one and if you do it very quickly before the store employees catch on LOL

  6. isobuster will work, it may take a long time as it can be a slow process but it worked great for me, i restored a mini-dvd from my camcorder that sometimes doesn't like to finalize. Give it a shot.
