First you search, then you find that this has been dealt with a thousand time or more. The issue is overscan. Nothing has been cut off. It is all there. Play the DVD back on the PC and check. Your TV hides the edges of the screen - all TVs do, to some degree. Fan-subbers are stupid when it comes to placement of the subs, and continue to place them so that they disappear into the overscan area. You would think that by now they would understand and get it right, but no, they haven't.
How to fix ? FitCD and avisynth. FitCD will create an avisynth script that will resize your avi and add borders around the edges so your subs stay on screen on yor TV. If you have the latest version of ConvertXtoDVD then you can load the avisynth script and encode from there. If you don't have the latest version, upgrade or learn to use a proper encoder.Read my blog here.
