  1. hello ppl.
i have this camcorder that i bought i think in 1996. i have many old memories stored on its tapes. now i wanna store them permanently on a DVD-R using my DVD burner. the video camera is a Sony CCD-TR315E. and one more important and big thing it is a [b]PAL[b] video camera. ok now i don't have any wires for the camera that can connect to the CPU. but i do have a ATI video card that i can connect to my TV,VCR or watever. i am also able connect the camera the the audio and video inputs in the back of the VCR and my TV. then i can view the video on the tapes. but the video does come in black and white since the camera is PAL and records in PAL. so thats the story. is there anyway to get the tapes on the DVD??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

How did you end up with a PAL camcorder in Canada?

The CCD-TR315E appears to be standard 8mm (aka Video8).

Western hemisphere ATI cards usually don't support Euro PAL inputs. I'm not sure about Hauppage or others without research.

What you need first is a capture card or DVD recorder that supports PAL inputs. Most software is PAL capable.

Next you need to decide how this video is to be displayed. A computer will display PAL but it must be converted to NTSC to display on Canadian TV sets.

The process is complicated. You will need to have the conversion done by a service bureau, learn a complicated software procedure or invest in hardware that can do the conversion.

So you don't see any files if you browse the dvd+rw? maybe doesn't your dvdreader support dvd+rw media.

  5. @Baldrick, I think in https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=321204 is asking for a way to transfer miniDVD+RW to the PC and in this thread is asking to transfer tapes to PC.

For miniDVD+RW from a Sony camcorder (maybe it works the same with hitachi), you need to first finalize the disc, then you can use DVDRemakePro to join 3 miniDVD in one DVD R with a menu. Other option will be to rip each miniDVD and use a dvd author program to create your own menus.

For your tape camcorder, normally you output via firewire to the PC then with software you create your DVD. If you end with PAL video, I guess you can select output to NTSC and the software will convert your input video to the right resolution.

  6. ok so i need to finalize the miniDVD for hitachi and for the other camera there is no firewire connection. so, it only connects to the tv! wat are my options now!

    sajjadbaqir,

What I'd do if I were you and on a limited budget is get an analog capture card that can handle your PAL signal. There might even be some cards that support both PAL and NTSC. Ask some of the folks from Europe that frequent this forum, they'll be able to guide you in the right direction, as I don't see a "PAL" or "NTSC" option in the Capture Cards to the left. Our friendly admin, Baldrick, I believe lives in Sweden, so he may be able to help you out as well.

This will at least allow you to get the video onto your computer. Then you may be able to use one of the guides to convert from PAL to NTSC for burning to DVD and watching on your TV. However, some DVD players available in the US and/or Canada can do the PAL<->NTSC conversion for you as well.

I have just finished copying 4 cassettes onto my harddrive for conversion into a DVD. I have a SONY CCD-TR315E. I used a WINFAST A180 video card and ULEAD VideoStudio 6 software. The software has all the different types of video format; mpeg1; mpeg2; Pal; NTSC etc etc. My video card had a cable that came with it that converts S-Video and Composite to VIVO (Video In - Video Out). It has Windows WDM Capture drivers aswell. Basically it is the Video Card that allowed me to do it. Newer cards wont have the analog connection as most new PC's have 1394 firewire ports to transfer digital video. You need an analog video transfer/conversion device. Google it, there are some on the market. Regards, The Badman.
