  2. you need what's called a dvd authoring program...........TDA is a good one, so is dvd lab pro....there's a few other ones out there as well too.......but basically you need to make a menu and link the files to the menu.......read the authoring section of the website for some more info on this....

    Does each chapter last 48 minutes? It won't fit on a single layer disc (but on a dual layer one). Due to compatibility problems with DL discs, if I were you I'd convert the clips to Xvid (there won't be any menus) and burn a single layer DVD disc as a data disc (if your player supports Xivd/Divx).

    Single layer is 4.37 GB - Double layer is twice as much (roughly). You need a burner capable of double layer burning tho.

    10 chapters x 48 minutes each = 480 min;
    480 min / 60 = 8 hours.
    No, the whole thing won't even fit on a Dual Layer disc. What kind of DVD are you trying to backup????? Are you rendering your own menu to author your DVD? Converting the videos to Xvid may be the best bet.

    Oh yes you can! You can put 6-7 hours on a single layer (@VCD specs bitrate/quality) so 8 hours on a dual layer would be no problem at all.
    8 hours on a dual layer would mean ~2000 kbps, so even 1/2 D1 resolution will work no problem.

    Not necessarily true. You can get 8 hours of footage on a valid DVD-Video on a DVD+R DL at better than VCD quality. And yes, you could use Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio in there too.

    Not sure why you'd want to, but you could.

    -Maybe...lol

    -Thanks for the input but I'm almost sure the quality will be very poor.

    -I've mentioned the AC-3 files since our friend said..."(@VCD specs bitrate/quality)"; VCD specs and quality does not allow AC-3 files.

    -Me? no no no...not me, lol.

    We can argue this no end, but fact remains: You can easily fit 8 hours of DVD Video on a DVD-9.
    Since the sources are RealMedia (of unknown resolution), I'm confident CVD @ 2000 kbps will be more than enough to do them full justice, but quality is in the eye of the beholder - there's no "truth" out there.

    Over 20 hours on a single layer DVD, compliant: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=237159

    I could have made it less but that was as low as the encoder would go... Something you'd want to do? Probably not unless you had heaps of footage you wanted to archive where quality wasn't an issue. Considering the bitrates it's actually not that bad.
