  1. I have a avi file I want to convert to mpeg. So I used VSO DivxtoDVD and it is converted to dvd files but when I try to add to TMPGEnc DVD Author it gives me an error that is written in widgets and symbols (basically not readable).

Is there a good program I can use that will convert a avi file to mpeg dvd ready files for a NTSC dvd standalone player.

I basically want to get rid of the numerous programs that I have purchased that end up being inferior to others.

I would like to use lesser programs than more. Speed is important however quality has the priority. So anyhelp in mentioning a program that would be used for converting video formats and authoring them would be appericated.

I currently have been using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 and either divxtodvd, tmpgenc plus(takes way to long though), winaviconvertor.

Money is really not a issue for me right now for conversion and authoring programs

I have received this error message from time to time. I don't know what causes it, but the fix I've always used has been to get rid of all the IFOs and BUPs that DivxToDVD creates (just leaving the VOBs), then renaming the VOB set(s) to VTS_01_* (obviously if I have multiple VTS's I need to copy them to seperate directories) and recreating the IFOs using http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm#ifoedit . I then import each VIDEO_TS folder and they import fine after that.
    If in doubt, Google it.
