Hi, I'm having a problem with my just purchased copy of VOB2MPG-Pro. The message I get is finished processing 0 vobsets. This happens for every set of vob files I try to merge.
Just to see what would happen, I tried IFO mode. In that mode the preview does not work, I get no video although I get a brief snippet of sound before it stops. When I click extract I immediately get the message finished processing.
I found an old version ChrissyBoy had provided someone in a forum post as a fix. (A level of version 2.4 dated Thursday, July 20, 2006, 8:35:44 AM with size of 2,010,624 bytes) This version combined the vobs quickly. The resulting mpg plays fine with Windows Media Player. The only problem I've noticed is the timestamp is off when played through my UPnP AV server and player. I was actually hoping to fix the timestamp issue by purchasing the pro version.
I'm running Windows XP Home, service pack 3 and have .NET framework 2.0 service pack 2 installed.
I've included one of the logs below. Pretty short, but it's the whole thing.

ok
What is the path of the source please?SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
VOB2MPG PRO, Extract mpegs from your DVDs - with you in control! -
The source path is: E:\DVDs\MainMovie\MOVIE1\VIDEO_TS
The destination path is : C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Videos
I have also tried with the source as C:\Media\VIDEO_TS
I'm suspicious of ffmpeg since the preview does not work. But that probably does not have anything to do with the log stopping when it is apparently discovering the drives.
Thanks

Hi, just downloaded VOB2MPG (freeware) today to see it it will assist with a large VHS project. If so, I'll go PRO. But.., I am having the same problem jay782: that is I select VOBSET, identified the folder (it exists on both my desktop and a DVD: tried both locations), get the "Green Arrow" in the Start Extraction icon, click it, and get "Finished Processing 0 VOB sets; duration 00:00:00. The log shows only:

Source data path is G:\Video_TS
(also tried conversion from C:\users\{name}\desktop\video_ts which did not work either)
Note: G: is an Optiarc DVD RW AD7590S ATA Device
Output location is: C:\Users\JamesL\Desktop\VIDEO_TS (program generated)
As far as I can tell, I followed the help files to the letter. What now?

I think you've nailed it in my case. Although the WMI service is running it is apparently not working correctly. When I use the System Information tool I receive a message Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing.
I'll go on a quest to fix that and let you know the results.
Thanks for your assistance. -
Cool - keep us posted!

After searching and trying a couple of different methods to repair WMI, this page provided the solution that worked for me. You have to register to access the full article:
http://searchwindowsserver.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid68_gci1160143_mem1,00.html
Read all the details, but this is the guts of it:
1. At the command line, type net stop winmgmt. You may get a warning that other services need to be stopped as well; type Y and continue.
2. Open Explorer and go to the folder called %SystemRoot%\System32\WBEM\Repository.
3. Delete that folder and everything in it.
4. Reboot the system normally.
5. On the next login, open a command prompt and type the following commands in this order:
winmgmt /clearadap
winmgmt /kill
winmgmt /unregserver
winmgmt /regserver
winmgmt /resyncperf
Now WMI works and I am able to use vobset mode to merge vob files, with one exception. I still get the 0 vobsets message if the destination is in the path of the source. This didn't work:
Source:E:\DVDs\MainMovie\MOVIE1\VIDEO_TS
Destination:E:\DVDs\MainMovie\MOVIE1
But when I send the file someplace else, like my C drive it works fine. I can live with that.
Thanks for your assistance. -
I tried jay782's solution: it's a no-go for Vista. Vista (x64 that is) winmgmt does not support the /clearadap, /kill, /unreg..., /regserver paramaters. It does support /resyncperf.
Vista winmgmt switches are almost 100% different from the jay782 referenced article. They are [/backup <filename>] [/restore <filename> <flag>][/resyncperf] [/standalonehost [<level>]] [/sharedhost] [/verifyrepository [<path>]] [/salvagerepository] [/resetrepository] of which the text of "salvagerepository" seems to imply it does the work of the article's 5 commands.
All that aside, I 'salvaged' my repository to be told it was consistent (I did blow it away and reboot as advised), after which I reran VOB2MPG and got the same results I posted earlier. So... rather than fight with Vista, I'll try this on an XP machine I have access to. Has anyone successfully used VOB2MPG in any Vista x64 (not 32 bit) version? When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained: Mark Twain -
