  1. Use WinAvi. Best program i have ever used. Full Xvid movies converted and burned onto a DVD-R in just over an hour. They look great too. You can also go with VCDs or SVCDs but if u have a DVD drive i dont see the point.

  4. If your video is upside down, did you ever consider turning your monitor over, so that it is right side up

Hey People. This is my first post on this forum. Be gentle.
Anyway, I think that the problem that I have (upsidown images) is coming from NERO 7 ULTRA, though it has been seen with other versions from Nero. It does not show up if I use any other company's produccts (At least with the ones I have tried.) Capture goes perfectly with everything else but I need some features that Nero has.
I am using a Plextor Convertix PX-TV402U which has been checked out by them. (I"m just a few miles from them.)
They were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We both concluded that it HAD to be nero.
I had been given a free 10 days of voice support and during that time we were never able to get a fix. The first couple of net support emails DID answer my questions (these were just general subjects), but when I got to asking about this problem the email answers stopped.
With the new Nero update, whenever I opened the program to capture, I would get a box telling me that I had used my capture device with an older version of the program and would like me to run the configuration utility. I said Yes and immediately it told me the device could not be configured and that I would have to chect my settings.
What settings? The guys at Plextor were baffled.
We did kinda have the feeling that Nero could not comunicate with the Plextor. (Nero would not give me any selection of options at all (Frame size, format, or much else.)
I did not have any problems with the other software I tried. But definately Nero found the Plextor since it came up as my installed device.
I also have the recurring problem of the image coming up as "squished" ocasionaly, top to bottom, with black bars at the top and bottom (I do know the difference between distortion and Letterbox) and it happens most of the time. Again, I do not have this problem with other software. I know that it might seem simple to just change software, but at this point I'm getting angry. The version that I have of Nero 7 ULTRA was purchased and paid for. And nobody will take back softwear that has been opened.
I tried to call them (They are in Glendale CA in an unmarked box.) The guy that I talked to was in sales and told me that they couldn't give me any more free calls. He did say that all of their "test devices" were in Germany, so they could'nt try it out. Then he asked for my credit card to get support at $1.29 per minute. He didn't care that they had not found a solution during the free trial. He didn't like the idea that HE should have to contact Germany.
He said he would "look into it."
I'm sorry that I have gone on so long, but I wanted everyone to be clear at this point.

    Thank you for your time,

Is there a way to flip the video like pictures, especially when you use a digital camera in video mode, accidentally you turned the camera shooting the scene? thanks.

In regard to turning the monitor upside down one of course finds the problem is solved as regards upside down video. Of course as mentioned ones emails are then upside down.
An interesting solution in this regard is that one is able to purchase a low stool and, after some practice, stand on ones head each time one wishes to examine ones emails.
Sadly though , one finds the videos are again upside down.
Therefore I am keen please if anyone can advise further on this

Quick question, I installed the divx codec but now some of my avis are playing upside down using media player classic but not in VLC. I want to fix this. I don't want to install ffdshow or turn my screen upside down, ugh.

This just started when I installed just the divx codec 6.6.1
The only other codecs I have ever installed are xvid. None of the fourcc codecs in xvid are checked.

It happened to me too (video played upside down) on all my AVI files. They were fine just yesterday. So I believe it was the result of my trying out different players, and picking up some incompatible codecs along the way. As a result, I reinstalled the DIVX codecs and the image is now normal again.
May be you have the opposite problem. You need to reinstall the original codec whatever it is for those files that you have. :|

Thank you very much for the suggestions here ... I was able to fix my issue by downloading the latest ffdshow. This is likely the best source for video help I have found searching the web. Thank you again.
