Hi guys. I wonder if you can help please. I bought a sony camcorder which records in high definition AVCHD / MTS 2 format. What is the best way to be able to save and playback our holiday on a television. What is the best software for this ? Being able to edit would be a bonus too. Thanks in advance.

Buy a big external hard drive. Most modern TVs play back quite a few types of files.....the files direct from the camera may be one of them.

  4. Your TV...what formats will it play?
An alternative is use a media server to send them from your computer to your TV (requires a Smart TV). http://serviio.org/

  5. What is mt? But rather,
Why would you not include what type of camera you actually have. This way , the other owner gives you the correct answer, or even others, reading a manual, that is somewhere on the web, what is the correct camera to hardisk transfer if that is the case, if simple copy/paste causes problems ...

    1) What brand and model camcorder? To know the recorded formats/specifcations.
    2) What brand and model TV? To know the playback formats/specifications.

    3) For a freeware editor that may work for you.
AVIDemux for one. But there are other similar.
    * ) For payware, other members can recommend once they have the above information.

    And welcome to our forums.

  7. Just re-pack your .mts files into an .mp4 container...there are several threads here on the subject, here´s a couple of examples:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/342606-MTS-to-MP4-conversion-without-re-encoding
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/370230-Newbie-needs-help-getting-the-best-quality-c...rom-mts-to-mp4

You can repack without reencoding (to avoid loss of image quality) only the audio will change from .ac3 to .aac for better compatibility
