Hi everyone,

I'm comparing hardware HEVC (H.265) video encoding on Android smartphones and would like to collect results from other devices, especially the POCO F6 Pro and other Snapdragon-based phones.

Devices tested so far

- POCO X6 Pro 5G
- POCO F6

Main test: HEVC VBR, target video bitrate 1500 kb/s

The test uses a 30-second, 1920×1080, 30 fps video sample. The target video bitrate is 1500 kb/s, with AAC audio at approximately 128 kb/s.

On the POCO F6, the measured results were close to the target:

- Actual video bitrate: approximately 1524 kb/s
- Total bitrate, including audio: approximately 1659 kb/s
- Output file size: approximately 6.22 MB

In preliminary tests on the POCO X6 Pro 5G, some HEVC hardware-encoding runs produced substantially higher bitrates than the requested target. I would like to establish whether this is device-specific or related to the encoder implementation and settings.

Please note that the source video was already HEVC-encoded, so this is a second-generation encode rather than an encode from an uncompressed source.

What I would like to find out

1. How accurately do different Android hardware HEVC encoders follow a VBR target of 1500 kb/s?
2. Do the POCO F6 Pro and other Snapdragon devices produce similar results?
3. Are there important differences between Android hardware encoders across MediaTek and Snapdragon devices?

If you have a POCO F6 Pro or another Android phone, I would appreciate it if you could run a comparable test and share:

- Phone model and chipset
- Android version
- Encoding application and settings
- Requested and measured video bitrate
- Output file size and sample duration

My main focus is hardware HEVC/H.265 VBR encoding at 1500 kb/s, not a comparison of encoding applications.

Thanks!
