    Hello,

I thought isolation platforms & fancy feet were only for turntables to help control unwanted noise from the environment.

I'm reading ppl are using these for cd, cassette, and reel to reel playback, even laserdisc. It got me thinking about the restoration process (as-in maybe saving hours). Eliminating any outside interface would surely make your restoration easier, but I'm confused how something like this would improve with line-level stuff, or improve playback with laserdisc?

Is it just aging audiophiles; me included at the point of diminishing returns?

I have an ELP laser turntable, basically a cd player for vinyl and is extremely picky with faults in the record. If ppl are using these for cd playback, wondering if I should be using one for the best possible capture, which leads to better restoration/less time spent.

Additional vibration dampening is good for any analog pickup from a spinning platter, Not tapes or digital pickup like CD that is built in memory buffer and error correction. High end machines like laser discs and legacy turntables (not the modern tanks sold by snake oil companies) are all built in dampening bearings that eliminate the vibration to a minimum technical level (a level that does not effect the signal reproduction). In this forum you don't see a lot of talk about these topics because most members here believe in physics not fairy tales.

  3. Removing vibrations may improve various sources - some electronic components exhibit piezoelectric effect, magnetostricion is also real, there is so called microphonics effect (related to both mentioned or other reason) - so sane approach to reduce unwanted energy is not bad.
If this can improve line level - doubt on this.
