I just got the Kworld Xpert DVD maker. I read that the software that came with it, PowerProducer 2 Gold, was crap so I made sure to read up a little on the alternatives. Suprisingly, the best captures I got so far are from the software that it came with.
Virtualdub
Crashes my PC few seconds after I select capture avi. It crashes even when not capturing, just watching the preview. Virtualdub only allows changing the settings when in capture mode, since it catches my PC in just a matter of seconds I don't really have any time to see what could work.
VirtualVCR
Same problem, crashes PC after I stop recording though.
iuVCR
Great software, but very buggy. One time the settings will work, another time it will complain giving an error. CPU intensive, and oddly changes bitrate to something different every time I use it. Adding an de-interlace filter doubles the bitrate for some god damn reason, 25mb/s is still a little nuts for my 200GB drive ^^.
PowerProducer 2 Gold
Great dvd captures but not svcd. Never crashed and de-interlacing is already done for you and looks great. Problem is, I want more options ^^.
Anyway I need software that will capture in a SVCD resolution and de-interlace the video. For those who own a Kworld Xpert DVD maker, what are you using?
