I purchased one of these Studio AV/DV's today and so far it seems OK. From what I had read, I assumed these cards used hardware compression and captured in DV. You then convert it from there. Using VirtualVCR it seems I can capture in any format I choose (uncompressed, HuffyUV, etc). Does this card not use hardware compression? Does the hardware compression only kick in if you use the Studio 9 software? If it allows you to capture uncompressed/HuffyUV why would anyone capture in DV only to covert it again to MPEG2 or what not.

I can only assume that no one has one of these, but I thought they were fairly common. I guess it doesn't matter any more. I purchased a Sony DCR-TRV120 which will accept my 8mm tapes and output it as DV through the firewire port. It also has an A/D passthrough for converting my VHS tapes. Don't know why I never thought of it before. I got $100CAN for my old 8mm Sony handycam and I had spent $150CAN for the Pinnacle AV/DV. The camera only cost $275CAN after shipping.
