I think the version used in the movie was much better. The versions done by the outside artists really sucked. Good song, but hate when they go nuts and try and show off their vocalization in a song. There are certain songs you can do that with, and this isn't one of them. This was just meant to be a simple ballad. Again, the clip you chose was the good version.

I have both versions of THe Breakup Song on my HD. The commercialized "radio" version was edited heavily and the clip I used was from the longer version. It has a little more "attitude" than the version that got the airtime. Here's a clip from the "dumbed down" version, which is the version that got all the air time. See if you can hear a difference between it and the one in the first post:

Remember that song "Echo Beach"? Ha I used to like that one. Now THAT was a one-hit wonder!

I find it funny the song 'That Thing You Do' from the movie about 1-hit wonders in itself is a 1-hit wonder. I think Alanis would find it 'Ironic'. I remember that people though she was going to be a 1-hit wonder before her first single was debuted.
