I have a huuuuge problem. I've got a VCD file which, no matter what I do, delivers either choppy video or audio when burned with Nero. When I try to burn it, I'm told that there is an encoding error - fine! When I let Nero re-encode it, the audio is perfect but the video is extremely choppy (begins breaking up after about 5 mins.). If I then avoid the Nero encoding (ie. just skip it when I'm given the choice), the video is beautiful but the audio is so choppy that it's almost painful to watch.
What the h**l am I doing wrong??? I don't even know which is worse to watch - it's a lose-lose situation at the moment... *sigh*
The original file was a DivX DVD rip, which I then encoded with TMPGenc (after seperating the audio from it with VirtualDub, creating a WAV file).
HELP!!,
Karen (feel free to write me if you know what I'm doing wrong at: karen@anarki.dk )

what message do you get from Nero with the original file? is it an audio problem? have you tried encoding the wav audio separately first to mp2/224 format, then muxing it to the mpg with BBMPEG?

I think it's an audio problem, but then the video quality shouldn't change when I encode it with Nero, should it? I'm also thinking that maybe it's a bitrate problem, but I'm not in the mood to download, encode and burn a 700+ file again (I've already done it 3 times because of lack of hard drive space - 2,5 gigs) sooo... It just seems insane that I can get PERFECT audio and video - just not at the same time.

Actually, if it is/was Divx it sounds like the most likely cause is bad frames. My suggestion would be to search the forum for information on this topic and see if any of those threads help.

Use TMPGEnc's MPEG tools to demultiplex (split)
the audio from the video streams then use
TMPGEnc's MULTIPLEX tool to weave the two
files together again. Make sure you select
the proper MPEG <type> from MPEG tools drop
down menu.
