I'd like to create subtitles from scratch to a DVD of an anime series I've ripped to my hard drive using DVD Workshop. I tried using the 'Import from a DVD' option which lets me view the episodes which are broken down in to 3 parts; Intro, episode, outro. From there I tried the 'Add/edit subtitle' option which will show me the clip I selected which I can play but I can't hear any audio with it so I don't know where to insert the subs. Can anyone help?

if you just add a mpg or avi video do you hear any audio in the subtitle editor then?
it maybe can't play ac3 audio. -
Yeah I think you're right. When I play an avi I can hear audio when I play. Strangely though with the VOB files I can hear audio when I try importing and select the trim option. Oh well. Any suggestions on any other software I can download that allows me to see the video and listen to the audio while being able to add subs in different places on screen etc?

I'll try creating the subtitles in DVDsubber and see if I can get that to work. I tried Subtitle workshop before but that couldn't read timecodes beyond a certain limit which messed up the subtitles. Thanks for your help.
