Well, the family computer is situated (remember the video card, motherboard, and case posts? :P) Now it's time for my toy.Just wondering, are laptops really cut out for gaming? A few things I've been thinking of:
-Laptops with decents size screens, ~"19, seem to be really expensive.
-Upgrading seems to be a pain in the ass, if not impossible.
- Video cards, do we have the same selection? AGP cards are getting their asses handed to them by PCI-E at half the price. :P
I guess I'm just looking for some insite. This will have to hold me over until I get a job (only 17, remember? :P) and fully fund my own computer. :P Thanks for any input.

You've seen a laptop with a 19" screen?
Some of the newer laptops have pretty decent AGP chipsets that should be find for gaming. Another thing you should look at is response time on the LCD (in ms).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
I got an Inspiron 9100 with the following specs:
P4 3.2 w/ht
15.4 widescreen
1 gig ram
ATI 9700 Pro
60 gig 7200RPM HDD
and a bunch of other upgrades. It is definitely worth it for games (i bought it for editing) -
ViRaL1: Sub "19, it was just a guesstimate though. :P I want to stay away from AGP on my next computer, at least until some motherboards and video cards can come close to using it's full potential. :P
aanaravs: Have you tried playing any of the newer games, such as Doom 3 or Counter Strike: Source? If so, what settings were you running?
A laptop just don't seem right, the more and more that I read about them.I'm looking at this prebuilt from AlienWare http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Area-51/area-51_features.aspx?SysCode=PC...de=SKU-DEFAULT In theory I could build the same system for a bit cheaper, but this theoretical crap never works out for me. :P Thanks for the help guys.

In the States I think there is a company called voodoo, I have heard good things about their lappers.

Alienware and Voodoo are nice but over priced for what you get. Look at a company called www.powernotebooks.com they have decent prices for some massive hardware.
Look them up on resellerratings because they have an incredible rating. They give a discount if you deal with cash.
