How can I rip a DVCD?

I'm trying to rip an overburned DVCD, using VCDGear, but it crashes at 96%

This happens to all my DVCDs from Mongolia and Taiwan, with some even being rejected by my CD/DVD-Rom drives, but yet they play perfectly on my standalone VCD/DVD players.

How can I get the DAT files onto my hard drive in any form? DAT, MPEG, BIN or ISO I don't really care... Any software you recommend? I just need to rip the damn DVCDs! I've heard rumours about ripping slowly; are these old wives tales, or do those methods really work?

Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

IsoBuster gives me similar messages when i try to read to image in my Cheap-O drive. Whenever i use it with any CD, or DVD burner, it always works. CD/DVD writers are better disc readers.

Do you have access to a different drive?

Yes, I've tried them on my DVD-Writers too. BTW, CloneCD can successfully rip the whole DVCDs to an IMG file, but when I try to extract the individual DAT file(s) from the IMG file, it still cannot read the sectors. Therefore, it appears the files have been purposely corrupted, so they cannot be read on PC, but still work on a standalone player.

Have you tried burning the IMG created by CloneCD to RW? Does it play in your Standalone?
