I may have posted this before but with the search function not working I couldn't find it.
I need to know what speed to Burn/Copy VCD's at.
This is what I have found in the past... If I burn a VCD at 8x (the fastest I can right now) that It sometimes will not play on my Computer and Rarely Plays on my DVD Player.
If I burn at 4X, it almost always plays on my Computer and sometimes doesn't play on my DVD plaer.
If I burn at 2X it almost always plays on my computer and DVD Player.
When it doesn't play the audio and video studder and skip. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have any recommendations? I use a variety of media and it doesn't seem that one brand/type is worse than others.
I just got a new TDK 24x burning (still in the box) and most the media I get now is rated for 16x to 24x, am I still going to have to burn my VCD's at 2x and 4x?

This may be a problem with the way your system is configured. Your recorder may be working fast but is not being "fed" with data at the appropriate speed.
Close/disable all background applications/screensavers.
Do not open or run any application when the burn process is ON.
Enable DMA on your hard drive/CDROM Drive.

I burn at 24X with no problems. My PC and DVD read them OK!
Try using different brand CD-R. -
If a drive is designed to be able to read CD-R media, AND both the burner and media can handle high speed burns, there is no reason not to burn at the top speed. That is, burn speed shouldn't matter.
However, has you've described problems with reading your discs even in your PC, that sounds very curious.
As alexb said, try using a different brand of media.
Burn speed can make a difference when playing your discs on a DVD player, but this is really only true on those players with drives not designed to read CD-R/W media in the first place. In these players, it has often been observed that a lower burn speed burn can help them to read the disc better. If you have a player that IS designed to play CD-R/W media, there should be no difference.
