    Is TMPGEnc really that much better (than Ligos) for DVD/MPEG2 creation? I'm talking about the Ligos plugin that is in Ulead DVD Movie Factory. It is pretty fast (3x on my 1G PC) and the results look great! Limited settings (low=4mbps or high=6mbps) may be a downside.

    Has anyone really looked at the quality differences?

    Don't know about DVD spec video, but in terms of S/VCD (which uses a much LOWER bitrate), the general consensus is that the Ligos encoder is still inferior to either TMPGEnc or CCE, especially for VCD standard MPEG-1.
