  1. Hi have a quick question.

Ive been taking some divx avis through ffmpeg and getting mpeg 2 files. I have selected the mpeg 2 ffmpeg quick preset and have adjusted the files to have an output of 600 mb. So the video bitrate is about 2040 kbit/s which is low for a dvd. But anyhow I try to import them into DVD studio pro and it says it is an incompatible format, any suggestions or hints please?? thanks so much

  2. DVD Studio Pro needs either PAL .m2v streams or NTSC FILM with 3:2 pulldown .m2v streams.

I've been using ffmpeg to encode at 29.97fps, either 720x480/404(16:9) or 352x480 at around 1400-1600bps, with keyframe set at 12. The only problem I've been having with DVDSP2.05 is that about one in three/four m2vs fail on mux, 'muxer internal error'. Usually re-encoding the m2v from the source material passes the second time. I'm also having a problem were DVD2oneX will crash(quit) in certain places on built DVDs from DVDSP that were encoded with ffmpeg. Again, re-encoding the m2v that caused the crash solves the problem.

The best I can tell, from testing, is that sometimes ffmpeg flakes out and creates a m2v with a bad spot, usually damaged I-frames. I found this by running a m2v that failed to mux through ffmpeg a second time and looking at the errors in the Progress window.

For the most part, the ffmpeg m2vs, A.Pack AC3s, and DVDSP DVDs have been working out well. It would be nice not to have to re-encode every 3 or 4 files however 8)
