    Ok, I downloaded this movie file.. and its a dvdrip xvid DVP... and for some reason I only get the audio... any ideas?.. I tried the nimo build pack with codecs.. but.. it didn't really help.. and made my other .avi's go upside down..

    That's codec packs for ya... They mostly break things that used to work, and extremely rarely fixes any playback probs. Try to uninstall the codec pack. Then, using GSpot, find out what codecs the particular AVI needs. Then download and install this codec and nothing else. If this really is an XviD AVI, I suggest latest XviD codec. ffdshow is also a nice codec to have installed.
    ...and while I'm at it, ranting, don't try to play back video with WMP (don't know if you do, but anyway - Use Media Player Classic or ZoomPlayer or DivX Player or...

    Install vlc media player aka Videolan, does it play now using vlc?
