  1. hi,

i'm wondering if there's any option to make the camera stop turning itself off after a certain period of time when not recording. After a few min of not recording ,it turns itself off and i don't like that, i want it to stay on until i turn it off...so is there a way to do this?

    thanks in advance

The menu won't help you here, as I too, am a Sony owner. If you camcorder has a tape installed, the only way you can keep it on is to leave the camera in VCR mode, then switch to camera and press record when you are ready to record. If you are recording to an external source, e.g., your computer or VCR, if you remove the tape, the camera should stay on in camera mode.
    Hello.

u kno i want to use the camera for my replacement of a webcam, because after using it, the frame is so clear and smooth...beats any webcam that's available on the market ... that's just my opinion

A $400+ webcam of course it's better. You know it also depends on how your webcam software is outputting the video....

Let's see. A camcorder/VCR, a pass through pseudo TBC, a webcam, a digital still camera. All for $400.00. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I also got this camcorder and I use it as a webcam. I have tried everything I know of but it always shuts down after a few minutes. Very frustrating when using it as a webcam since it must be in camera mode to operate as a webcam. If anyone has a solution to this problem I would love to hear it.

Did you have camcorder connected in camera mode with the tape OUT?
