    The title says it all.

I need to get the audio from and Xvid avi. It is already in MP3 format and that is how I want to keep it. I am trying to seperate the video from the audio so that I can reencode the video so it is viewable on my Philips set top DVD player. Currently the video has QPEL witch the Philips can't play.

I want to save the audio as MP3, reencode the video and put them back together. I am gonna use Nero recode but since it only does AAC audio I would like to just save the audio and only re encode the video and then remux.

Is the only way to do this to use VDub and save to Wav and then reonvert or can I just get the MP3?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I could be wrong, but I think you can use virtualdub and if you have audio set to direct stream copy then go to File > Save as WAV and this will save an MP3 file, but call it a WAV. All you need to do is then rename it.

If you have the audio set to Full Processing and compression set to None (PCM), it will create a "true" WAV file.

I think that is how it works anyway.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Use VirtualDubMod:

    1) Open the AVI with VDM....BUT DO NOT rewrite the header if ASKED (if its a VBR MP3), Select NO!!!

    2) Select STREAMS > STREAM LIST

    3) Select DEMUX and create a name for the demuxed audio file.

    4) Wait a few minutes....and job done.
