  1. WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
    STAT: VOBU 0 at 0MB, 1 PGCS
    3 [main] dvdauthor 3492 handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
683194 [main] dvdauthor 3492 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to dvdauthor.exe.stackdump

I get the stackdump error when I try to make my dvd with mpeg files from my dvc 150. Is there any way to fix this?

Maybe if you could provide some more details on the m2v/mp2 files, or if you are importing vob's, some more information on them. Look through the log to see if there were errors multiplexing the titles.

  3. Its just a dvd compliant m2v file, I didn't try to put the mp2 file on the dvd because I was just concerned with seeing the output size of the file. I'm experimenting with different methods of capture in the hopes that I won't even have to render the clip before authoring. If you want the full log just let me know.

  4. Here's an updated version of the log, it all looks normal until this:
    STAT: Processing C:\Program Files\Dazzle Multimedia\Digital Video Creator 150\DV.mpg...
WARN: System header found, but PCI/DSI information is not where expected
(make sure your system header is 18 bytes!)
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
Warn..... repeats for many many lines and then this:
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
    STAT: VOBU 0 at 0MB, 1 PGCS
    2 [main] dvdauthor 1648 handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
530906 [main] dvdauthor 1648 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to dvdauthor.exe.stackdump

Note: Dv.mpg is the name of the only mpeg file I am using in this dvd. It looks like the header file is not right, should I try running this through restream or dvd patcher to fix that ?

If all else fails-use ifoedit -DVDAuthor button-load vid and aud and author.(which is almost as simple as using a wizard)-use the vob in DVDAuthor GUI. I could not get it to work without audio either. I am referring to the liquid gui.

  7. The parts of the log that I thought were an error I posted above, you can check that out until I can send the complete log. Where can I find the .dva file?

To create the project file, goto 'file'...'save project as...'

  9. Liquid217, I know there are 2 dvd author guis on this site and I just wanted to make sure that we are both thinking of the same one:

The file type that it saves is a GFD, I can give you that if you want. I now am having another problem, see here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=234395
when I try to create a dvd so I can't get a log file. So now I can't even author a dvd with the program.

Sorry, I can't help you then. I thought you were referring to DVDAuthorGUI and not gui for dvdauthor

  11. I think I have diagnosed what is causing my problem with GUI for dvd author. Each time I try to put in an intro mpeg video (10 seconds) before the menu along with my usual main mpegs. When I try to create the dvd I get all the errors listed above. I tried removing the intro mpeg and it created the dvd fine, no problems! Is this just a glitch in GUI for DVD Author that it can't support the Intro mpeg or is there something I can do to correct that? Thanks.

video files without audio will not work with DVDAuthor-you need to put in an audio clip-as per DVDAuthor site.

  13. I have mpeg layer audio on the intro clip. Should I try pcm or something else?

  14. If you click on the [i] button left next to the 'Use Intro' checkbox, what appears on your screen? May be your intro video is not correctly muxed...

BTW: dvdauthor can easily handle mpeg streams without audio! The only necessary thing is: It has to be 'multiplexed' with mplex - f 8, but you 'multiplex' only the video stream. Doing this, mplex adds the necessary navigation packs, and dvdauthor can handle the resulting file.
