    are mpeg and mpg the same thing. i keep reading that you need a mpeg file to make a vcd, then i read in the tutorials to use a mpg... i am confused.

    MPEG is the file format. mpg (or .mpg) is the file extension some operating systems (such as windows) puts to the files.
