  1. when you burned a DVD-R and you see a tiny ring in the middle, between the hub and the edge of the disc. It's as if the laser didn't burn that specific area and jumped onto the next space or something. But the DVD-R is working fine though. No errors whatsoever?

No, I don't think it's the leadin burn since it's locate about midway (half) of the already burned data. For quite sometimes, I've been mislead to think that's what you called coasters Some of them are really visible, and some are barely. And sometimes I don't get any at all.

it's like you see a Ring in the middle of your burned data ~75-80mm diameter compared to the 120mm DVD.

    1) Crop Circles?

    2) Lost rings of Saturn

    3) Pointless discussion if DVD actually works?

Just kidding, but I've never personally seen that phenomena. Enclose a bitmap so we can all see what you're referring to.

  7. I got a lot of these when I started to burn DVD the first time, wayyyyyyy back so I thought it was cheap media (4xprinco), I had to burn them @ 2x instead in order not to have these rings. Then after learned about DVD media, I switched to Ritekg04 and didn't have these frequently, only few burned @ full speed - 4X.

Then I recently switched to Prodiscs03 and it didn't occur on the first 10-20 burns (. Then these occured again every now. Could it be that HDD is too Full, (I stored my ISO DVD files on my slave 120gb drive and it only have ~ 10 GB free now, where I had about 50 GB when I burn those first 20 prodiscs) ?

Once you see the ring, you have seven days left to live.

Could it be the test area?
I remember on cdr, that whenever one is made,
a sample area of the disc is used to test and calibrate
    before doing a burn(enough to do 99 tests/multisession).
    Maybe DVD's also do this??

I know of this ring. This ring is the one that rules them all!

  12. I've seen that but on cd's, when you use the cd but don't close it, then you write another session and close it.

naw, this is not the case, it's like a space between data. I think it's because of the fragmentation. I tried to burn an ISO that I already burnt once without the ring and It came out perfectly fine. So i guess these new files that I recently ripped onto my HDD must be too fragmented.
