Hi everyone,
I am trying to digitize all my Hi8 tapes into mpeg. So I bought a cheap capture card using a bt8xx chip and the quality is not satisfactoring. I am aiming for a AIW card now, but before I get an another card, can anyone send me a sample MPEG-1 clip (352X240) so I'll get an idea how well a AIW card can capture analog video? Thanks a lot!
My e-mail address is siulong999@hotmail.com.
Many thanks!

lord smurf has some sample captures using AIW's on his website www.digitalfaq.com. Also he has a lot of great guides for capturing with AIW's.

Thing to note is the AIW has trouble with analog tapes. The quality is superior to a lot of capture cards but most users need a TBC to get results.
See here: http://nepadigital.com/mv for an example. -
Hello,
If you don't need avi capture capabilties the Hauppauge Wintv pvr series is excellent. They capture directly to mpeg. I haven't had any problems with my wintv pvr250.
