  1. I have researched the topic and have found 2ch to 5ch/6ch but none that answer my specific question.

I am trying to join two avi files, however, the first part of the audio stream is 5ch ac3, and the second part is 6ch ac3, both are 448 kbs and 48khz. My first attempt was to convert the 6ch stream to 5.1 wav with besweet (then i was going to convert back to ac3), however, after the process was completed, wmp couldnt play the file and gspot reported that the stream was still 6 channels. suggestions? thnx.

  2. I don't know of any 5 channel DD format, unless it is AC3 with the sub track missing?

Best way is to convert the AC3 files to seperate mono waves and work with them from there and then re-encode them. What does VirtualDub report the audio tracks to be?

I don't get it. 6 ch is 5.1....there's no 6.0 specs. (#.# = surround speakers . subwoofers...add them together to get the total # of channels).

What would 5 ch even be? 4.1? 5.0? I've heard of 5.0, and 4.1, but neither are common.
