  1. Hello everybody, I have a small problem. My wife rented a dvd (Confessions of a teenage drama queen) and it will NOT play on my PS2. This has NEVER happened to us before and we have played MANY MANY retail and ripped dvds in our PS2. This particular dvd will not get past the screen ratio selection screen. Whenever I use the controller or remote for the PS2, nothing happens. It just keeps saying "The operation that you have chosen cannot be performed" or something like that (ps2 heads will know what i'm talking about). Why is this? Is it some sort of new encryption that will not let the dvd be played through a PS2? My PS2 is unmodded in any way and I don't have any parental protection on my PS2. What is the problem? BTW, this is the 3rd exchange of the exact same title from blockbuster. Any help is greatly appreciated...

You have one of those rare PS2s that have good taste. It simply refuses to play that movie.

  3. You do know that film isn't due to be out until tomorrow, tuesday right? So maybe you don't have a bonafide disk, get a real dvd & see if that works?

  4. My local Blockbuster always "unofficially" rents new releases the Thursday prior to the official Tuesday release (5 days ahead of time).

I just called Disney (the 800 number on the dvd disc) and they told me that the discs that will be released tomorrow will not play in Sony PS2's due to a disc error. The lady said that they will be sending out fixed discs by the end of this week.
