GAH.. I have a bunch of MiniDV to put to DVD and TMpgEnc DVD Author
is turning out to be quite the software for putting it all together for me..
The first one I tried came out super crisp and smooth playing on settops (as long as I used the proper media) and the menu-autoplay thing is awesome.
However, that was the first video I did.. the next ones are auto-playing, looking ok but playback with (Gah I cannot remember the correct term here) mini horizontal lines on rapid movements. Example, if person is view standing still it's nice and crips, but if the person starts flapping their arms up and down, then the edge of their arms show these little horizontal lines.
I use Premiere 6.5 to encode my video to DVD m2v file which TMpgEnc DVD Author works with nicely.. But this was 'perfect' on the first one I tried.. all subsequent videos have this horizontal lines thing going..
As far as I can tell I am using the same settings but always have these lines.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I went to look to purchase the software and can't understand the diff with the v3 Express and TMpgEnc DVD Author 1.6 (1.5?). Which one do I need just to do my basic MiniDV to DVD authoring?

Thos 'horizonatl lines' sound like interlacing artefacts. Make sure your encoder is set up to use bottom field first with DV source material.

The word I was looking for was 'interlaced'.. right!Originally Posted by bugster
Yes, I just checked and it's on bottom 1st feild DV source when I encode it to m2v format. I just rebooted that machine, defragged the drives etc etc and still does the same thing.. puzzling..
Thanks for the assist.

it doesn't make a difference on what I am watching it on.. I still see it.. it's bad enough to not want to show the vids. When I am authoring the video with TMpgEnc DVD Author I can see the interlacing artifacts in the samples. It didn't on the first one I ever did so I must be doing something different.. I'm now jotting setting notes as I go along. This authoring prog is quite nice.. Just what I need if I can make it do it like it did the last time =)Originally Posted by bugster

In that case they must be present in the mpeg output from your encoder. Play that in PowerDvd to confirm. If so, it is your encoder or the settings of that encoder that are at fault. Try encoding a small clip (that shows this fault) with filed order set to top, then again to bottom, and see if they look any different.Originally Posted by bugster -

Many thanks.. I tried various settings from Premier 6.5 and it seems to be coming from that source.. Once I nailed down the what and why, then I guess that's it. However, I tried it from the default DVD setting (export) and MPG2 setting and still end up with the artifacting.. But not with the first video I tried. It is so strange. Dunno what I did different the first try that I am doing wrong this time..Originally Posted by seaking
