  1. I'm using the trial version - ver 1.5. I have a Pentium 4-1.6 ghz computer with 256 mb of memory. Plenty of drive space.

I capture with Intervideo WinDVR using NTSC 1/4 DVD settings
    352 x 240 MPEG 2
    video bitrate 1800 kbit/sec
    audio bitrate 224 kbit/sec

Looking at fie properties it says 29.97 FPS and 44.1 stereo audio

All seems well but when making a DVD it takes DVD author over 5 hours to process it. I don't understand why.....

  2. Hi jimmymilner,

You did not mention how big your file is. From my own experience, TMPGenc DVD Author will take a while to convert 44.1 KHz audio to 48 KHz. For me, with about 4.3 GB of videos, and all of them has 44.1KHz audio, TMPGenc DVD Author took about 2.5 to 3 Hrs to process (and that's on an AMD 1800 with 1GB of RAM). If all of these had 48KHz audio, TMPGenc DVD Author took only about 20 min to process, on the same setup.

    Cheers,

  4. That explains it. Thanks.

I can only change the bitrate of the audio - it's set at 224 now - I can boost that to 256, 320 or 384. Would one of these bring it up to 48 mhz?

    Thank you.

Nope, bitrate (224 kbps. is fine) and sampling rate(44.1 KHz for vcd, 48 KHz for DVD) are two different things

  6. I found that authoring to a drive other than the one my source is on, the time to completion is cut in half. Give it a try, if possible.

  7. Extremes for me as follows

It takes about 45mins on my P4 3.0gig unit (1gig memory) when I do a full DVD (about 6 gig) where the sound has to be re-encoded, and I am going straight from the Transport stream as provided from my DTV capture card.

Takes as littles as 10 minutes when a little under the 4.0gig mark with no sound re-encoding, and fully compliant Mpeg2 video.

  9. It appears that Intervideo WinDVR won't output compliant audio. What do you use to capture that does it right? Thanks.

BTW, I edit with TMPGEnc's Merge & cut. Is there a way to convert the audio within that part of the program?
