    I found out that Nero Info Tool and Promise IDE Controllers do not get along. When I run Info Tool, as soon as it tries to scan the controller, XP reboots. Nero says they are aware of it but do not offer a fix at this time.

    So, I need a replacement that will do the same or better as Info Tool. I am most interested in the diagnostic readout and ability to determine true DMA modes.

    What can I use?

    use dvdinfo for some of the options that are in the nero info tool.
