    Hey everyone
I've been using nero for quite a few years now, and I was looking into switching sides for a while. Any recommendations for something to replace it. All I really use it for is burning data to dvd/ cd's and on occasion make some video dvd's. I basically need something with the same basic functions of nero, but not as bloated as it.

    Thanks in advance.

For general burning, Imgburn. It won't allow you to make DVD-video discs directly, though, but it'll burn a properly-compatible DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder generated from another source.

I currently use imgburn for those certain tasks, but I actually need it to burn data to cd's dvd's and possibly burn regular downloaded content onto dvd's as well.

You can use Imgburn to burn data CDs and DVDs, too.

for 90% of my burning needs i use cdburnerXP. It's small and free and does most crap you need to do. as far as DVD it will burn the VIDEO_TS to a dvd and play it. but chek it out and let me know what u think

I use Imgburn for burning everything except audio CDs. It burns data just a well as it burns DVD Video.

For audio CDs I use Prassi ONES.

Imgburn won't create DVD video discs from assorted clips, though, which seems to be what the OP wants. Frankly, you're probably better off using FAVC or DVD Flick to create a DVD from the clips, then using Imgburn to burn, as opposed to hoping for an all-in-one. There really isn't a single program that can take the place of Nero in that regard (since you're looking for something that'll not only create data discs, but DVD video discs as well (and possibly other disc formats).)
