  1. Let's say I have a movie ripped completely as 1 file, but I want only a specific 23 minutes out of the movie, but I do NOT want it re-encoded. How do I cut ONLY that part of the movie out without it needing to re-encode it or anything.

  3. it's ripped to .AVI

I tried ripping to VOB, but most of the movies I have are seperated to multiple VOB, and I can't figure out how to rip a full scene to 1 VOB file instead of multiple.

load the avi into virtual dub, select the start of the portion you want on the slider, click the "mark in" button, then select the end of the portion on the slider and click the "mark out" button(hold the mouse over the buttons and it will tell you which is which) in the video menu, select "direct stream copy" then under file, click on save as AVI.

To select the beginning and end you can select "go to" in the edit menu and slect a specific frame number or time.

  5. I remember VirtualDub. I used it in the past, but it was making WAY bigger files than it was supposed to. Maybe I have something setup wrong then. I will try now and set to do it, and go to sleep, and report in morning what happened.

Make sure you select "direct stream copy" in the video dropdown menu.

  7. thanks, you'll got me fixed with it! I was just about to report that it had a projected estimated file sze of over 8.2 GB.

I put direct stream and now it is down to 116 MB.

You'll work fast, thanks a lot!!

Only thing I need to know now is how to rip scenes from DVDs when a whole scene might be First1_1.VOB - First2_3.VOB instead of being one big file to select portion from.

I can get it to rip to a lot of different VOB files, but not 1 file as required yet, and am trying to figure it out. if you'll can help me with that also, I'd be able to finally do my project compilation!
