  1. Ok i have a movie file and the uploader already gave some mildly specific instructions on how to get it to work on my xbox 360. However instead of me doing it the wrong way to start off with, i am wondering if someone would mind posting in this thread and i could possibly message you some of the details and instructions so i could get some personal help? If not i could just post the info here. Thanks

  2. Here is a little more info so maybe someone can help me. I am about to download a brrip movie and the uploader gives some instructions on how to convert it properly to work on xbox.

Xbox360 with Fall 2011 dashboard update will require you to play the video through windows media center and also requires a windows 7 computer. You will need to configure the 360 as an extender and share your movies to it. Your videos will play fine through windows media center on the 360 now. The other work around to get your video to play via fat32 usb stick or streaming from windows media player would be to remux your video to a plain mp4 container. This can be accomplished using ffmpeg and the following command line: ffmpeg -i "my video.m4v" -acodec copy -vcodec copy "my video.mp4"

So I am hoping for some specific instructions on what exact type of ffmpeg to download etc. and then what to do. Here are my current pc specs if that helps to select the proper ffmpeg.

I am running Winxp service pack 3 and i think my pc is 32 bit. Also here are some of the movie specs. Will the 5.1 audio in the one container be a problem or is that fine?

Video: Codec: AVC via x264 Profile: High@3.1 Bitrate: 3072 Kbps FPS: 23.976 Rate Control: 2 pass Audio 1: Codec: AAC Dolby Pro Logic II Bitrate: 160 Kbps Audio 2: Codec: Dolby Digital 5.1 Bitrate: 384 Kbps (Apple TV 1st gen use TOSLINK to enable DD, or use WDTV Live, or PS3, or VLC on PC)

  3. I would like info on this.... as well. I used this: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/settings-and-initial-setup/watch-dvds-movies but even if I follow all the specifics its a crap shoot. I get some videos to play that have both Dolby Digital and 2 channel AAC and some don't. I examine two videos that are damn near the same in codec, profile, and even bit rate and one doesn't work? Doesn't make sense to me...I play mine off a fat32 drive BTW...
