  1. Does anyone know what are the setting one should use when converting a movie from PAL to NTSC with TMPGEnc, so that the final movie does NOT require transcoding once imported into Adobe Encore?

When I import an AC3 file into Encore as an asset, it identifies the file and sets it up with a DON'T TRANSCODE setting.

But when I import a .m2v file, it always says it needs to transcode it. This places another cycle of encoding to an already encoded file.

No matter what I do when encoding the file with TMPGEnc, Encore always decides to transcode it.

    Any help will be appreciated.

  2. There is an attribute of the m2v file that Encore does not like. Maybe the file needs the pulldown flag? I'm not sure, but Encore is picky about "compliant" video files. What are the specs of the video you are importing.

  3. Hi Skynet107,

Ok, the movie is at 704x480, 16:9, NTSC, 29.97, progressive (since source was progressive). What other stat you need?

At first, most of the movies I have were not accepted in Encore and it gave me an Abnormal Situation error when trying to transcode. But after upgrading Encore to 1.0.1, these error are gone and it has gotten to trasncoding them.

But it is a real pain and waste of time because it's so redundant having to transcode these files all over again.

Another question, how can I tell what brand are my generic DVD-Rs? I bought a spindle of no-name generics for testing and getting the hang of converting movies, but am wondering if it's possible to tell at all if they have a brand name encoded.
