Ever notice every time you click on explorer.exe or one of the shortcuts, it always defaults to My Documents? God I hated that...
Change your shortcut to read
%windir%\explorer.exe /e,
Now it will start at the drive letters (my computer highlighted) instead

Sweet tip
Thanks
Now... if I can just figure out .... a majority of my work docs are saved to C:\TEMP (most are temp, to be emialed docs)
But... when I do a file save-as it defaults to the "My Documents" folder... anyway to set a default "save-as local"? -
Most of the file save are set within the program you're using.Originally Posted by DVD_Ripper
In MS Word
Tools/Options
File locations tab
If you want to change the default for temp files and such
right click My Computer and select properties
advanced tab
environment variables -
you use explorer

much prefer just going through my computer, seems like a more natural flow than the old filemanager system, which is essentially a visual command prompt tree. that's how i see it anyway.
