But why the finger? Is it supposed to be a turn-on to suck on the same body part that holds the toilet paper every day? I never did get finger sex ...or toe sex for that matter.

I have question for you gshelley. Like you said, bassists are always interested in gear and technology. And I always like to ask my fellow bassists what kind of gear they use. So what kind of basses, amps, strings etc. do you own and use?

Tobias 5-string, active pickups, roundwound medium gauge strings.

preamped through a Line 6 Bass Pod, into the power amp section of a Peavey Mark 6 amp, into a 1x15" Peavey cabinet.

when I'm playing bass.

and if I'm playing grindcore or something equally abrasive, a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal into a ProCo RAT pedal, both full on, into the rest of the rig.

Wow housepig, YOU play bass too? What kind of Tobias is it?

I've played mostly Fenders over the years, with a few Ricks along the way. I used to have some really nice sounding older basses... a '64 P-Bass (all beat up and smoky from many years in the bars), a '68 Rick, a '72 Jazz, a '75 P-Bass and a '77 Rick. I've played professionally in a wide variety of different country/southern rock, classic rock and blues bands and even an irreverent and filthy rock comedy revue one summer.

I eventually sold all my gear off after a much needed lifestyle change. In the last couple of years I've picked it back up, this time playing in the contemporary Christian music services at my church --- reading charts! So, I'm out of the bars and am a good family man nowadays.

I've got a couple of very well made Japanese Fender Jazz Basses... a Noel Redding '64 reissue and a '75 Jazz reissue (with the big pearloid block markers). They actually sound better than some of the old US made Fenders I used to have. I use either a Bass Pod or a Zoom bass processer running right into the PA/monitor system. No amps on stage.

not sure - I haven't been able to figure out which model it is.

but it's the most comfortable bass I've found yet, so I think this one is my last one, unless I hit the Lotto.

I'll take a look and see if I can figure out which one, if I can I'll post a link.

but yeah, I play guitar, bass & drums, and I screw around with midi and sampling. and sing, when I have to....
