  1. I'm about to purchase a whole lot of 4xDVD-R, at least 500. I would like to go for prodisc or Linkyo since I heard that it's pretty reliable and cheaper than Ritek [175(prodisc) < 190(Linkyo) < 285(ritek)]on Supermediastore)

    I have Pioneer DVR105/A05 burner 4x DVD-R/-RW

I'll mainly back up of Movies.

I just want to know how reliable are prodisc and linkyo media, (coasters, standable dvd player compatibility, etc). I've been a ritek fan since ever.

Also, what is the life storage on these media? I'm planning to make a purchase in 2 weeks, so I need opinions ASAP.

Also, Supermediastore: Do you offer any freeshiping with Prodisc and Linkyo, because I didn't see it on your website?

    Thanks everyone.

I have been using ProDisc injet printables at supermediastore, but I'm sure you can get them other places.

The silver top inkjets give a a strange effect after printing on my R200. Kinda like a hollogram sticker.
The white top inkjets print great and look pretty good.

Both versions burned all the way to the end with out any errors. They both play fine on my standalones. I burn with a pioneer 106

I also had great sucess with Ritek (orange top landscape design) in the past. I only stopped using them because I wanted inkjet printables and ProDiscs were less expensive

    Never tried the Linkyos

500? "...mainly back up of movies"?

That is a H*LL of a lot of backups! If I were you, I would not buy that many disks at one time. Quality should improve and prices should go down even further before you would use up 500 disks.

You gonna start sounding like an "as seen on TV" comercail again like in that locked thread you started??

    Like what is your problem,

I only been using Ritek whitetop printables for DVD so far, but I have TY silver tops for CDs. Actually I like that hologram type effect on the CDs after printing with the R200. Although I might not want movie backups to have that effect on the disk tops, I am thinking to buy Silver top DVD printables to use for my origanal works where I also create my own covers and disk tops. Really neat, a few of the things you can do with the silve top cds, hope the silver top DVD turns out the same way.

One bad thing about the Silver top CD though is you can't get a good scan very easily if you want to upload a pic somewhere, I tried a few times and it looked like crap because of the reflections.

I think it was the Prodsisk I was looking to buy next, Nec 2500A 8x burner here and I don't care if I burn any faster than 4x or not.

  9. I like the G04 printables the best.

The silver Prodiscs have a cool effect, and I choose the colors to print on them to achieve the best "WOW" effect. Experiment with bright colors and you'll be surprised how cool it looks.

The white prodiscs are OK, not as silky smooth as the G04.

  12. I would also recommend getting a small qualtity to test (don't they have a "sampler pack"??).

Then plunk down the big $$ on the ones you find you like.

Still a few bugs in the system...
