    Alright, NO LYING!

I'm not quite sure why, but I bought it at Walmart. Maybe it was because I was tired and hungry.

At any rate, he has the writing skills of a junior high kid. Clean but simplistic.

One page down, and <gulp> 939 to go.

If you don't see me posting for a while, that's where I'll be. Reading.

Some of it looked pretty interesting. Especially when he was talking about world events (and not himself).

You actually bought that. Uggggh...... I lived through the media circus when they tried to impeach him, and do not care to relive those moments. Just remember....

He did not have sexual relations with that woman. :P

Do you suppose the pages of the book are stuck together when you buy it?

Sorry Lordsmurf. That's really a topic for Rob's politick forum.

Back to the topic - I saw on the news that in NYC people were lined up overnight to get a chance at an autographed book. Like if Stephen King were signing instead of Clinton. Maybe it's to have a chance at getting an ex-president to sign your book that had them lined up. That would be pretty cool, no matter who was doing the signing

I looked at it. The free coupon for KY Jelly made me put it back on the shelf though.

I'm waiting for the abridged version - you know, the one where all the stuff he writes about himself is removed and only the things he knows about world events is covered. I think that I could handle those 4 pages.

True. He just got a slap on the wrist instead of the ultimate penalty. "Impeach" is the process, not the penalty Removal from office would have been the ultimate penalty after an impeachment. I think it's only happened once before.

That was going to happen to Nixon, before he resigned. Yes Clinton was impeached.

I just have to remember that impeach does not mean remove from office. It is the act of bringing formal charges against a government official.

True, and he was the second president to be impeached. Andrew Johnson was the first. Both procedures unnecessarily shut down the government. Both men were exonerated.

The part I hated was the way the rest of world was laughing at us because we were trying to have our leader removed from office because he had an affair.

Your history is flawed. He was NOT impeached for having an affair. He was impeached for lying to a grand jury. Remember, the famous "I did NOT have sexual relations with that woman..." This lying caused him to be DISBARRED in his home state.

And who cares what the rest of the world thinks? You might, but I sure as hell don't.

Apparently the congress didn't think he lied. He remained in office. Or did I skip that day when they taught that in history as well? Anyway, the point I was making was that congress shut down the government over his tryst. Nothing came out of it worth a darn. So he was disbarred in Arkansas. I hear he runs a law firm in New York. Think he cares?

All that money wasted over the entire mess.

i thought it was pretty funny. hey, if he cheats on his wife how true do you think he is to his country? the guy deserved to be kicked out of office. but your system seems a bit weird - it should have been a simple "you lied, we know it, you're out"

It wasn't congress that let him off the hook. Congress is who impeached him and voted to toss him out. It was the democraticly controled senate that let him off.

There weren't enough votes in the senate to bring a trial. At least, that is what my former government teacher told me.

You're almost correct. "Congress" is the body made up of the Senate and the House. A "congressman" can be from either.

Then the rest of the world missed the whole point of the impeachment. He wasn't impeached for having an affair. I suspect the whole reason passed you right by too, Tommyknocker. Am I right?

That's the problem when people get little media-spun soundbites on the news. They get enough information to be dangerous, but they don't have all the facts. But, of course, they're experts on the subject. What a lazy, spoon-fed society we live in :P OK, I'm waiting for the glib little 4-word dismissal, Tommyknocker, like "the beat goes on"
