hey, they may be a dumb question but i'm going to ask anyways. when burning a DVD for a stand alone home dvd player, what is the best resolution to set the video to so the picture is the most clear. Thanks and have a good day all.

Subjective question. Full rez UNLESS the movie is very long or the source is poor. Oh, and the size of your TV may be relevant. Then there's the little matter of what suits me may not suit you.

So far as I know, DVD players of recent manufacture should play all valid DVD resolutions (?)

When choosing a resolution for your DVD, it's best to match it to the input resolution. Generally, going upwards in res. is discouraged as it causes bad video (blockiness). So, for NTSC there's 3 basic resolutions: 352x240, 352x480 and 720x480...in order they are 1/4, 1/2 and full D1 resolutions.
