Hi All,
I've searched the forums and could not find another thread with this topic so I hope this is not redundant.
I recently backed-up my first DVD, "Toy Story" (I have kids!)
The steps I took were DVDDecrypter to write the DVD to my hard drive, then DVDShrink to remove all the extras I didn't want, and CopyToDVD (trial version) to burn the backup.
Everything looked great except at various times, while watching the movie, there is a little movie projector icon that appears on and off in the upper right-hand portion of the screen.
So my question is, does anyone know what this is and, if so, how to I get around it?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

thats an angle icon i think.
ive seen that appear on lilo and stitch, another disney movie, but only at the start, when i pressed angle, the only thing that changed was the language of the title, and nothing else.
you could always go and use instead of dvdshrink, use dvd2one,and pick movie only, and select 1 audio soundtrack, and then pick only 1 angle.
that way,it shouldnt appear.
it stopped it on the lilo and stitch one,for me. -
It's probably the "Multi-angle" indicator - when it appears, you press "Enter" on your remote, and it will allow you to view a diferent angle/shot of the scene.
As for getting rid of it, you would have to re-author the DVD to remove any of the references to the additional material - but I've never done it, so I can't tell you how it's done.
{edit} OOPS - too late!You can't fool me, I'm a moron! -
Since DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink doesn't add anything, I strongly suspect that the trial version of CopyToDVD is the culprit. The way out is to buy the product, or learn how to use the multitude of freeware apps available for burning a DVD. I suggest imgtools classic and DVDDecrypter (that you already use!) to create the DVD image and write it to disc respectively.and CopyToDVD (trial version)

Thank you everyone. I never thought of the mutli-angle thingy. Haven't noticed it on the original DVD though while watching the movie, but maybe it's the trial version, etc....
I guess this brings me to a good question since I am pretty new at this stuff. My goal with learning how to do all this is threefold. I want to be able to....
1) Rip clips from DVD, edit them, and burn them back to DVD.
2) Back up my purchased DVDs to DVD+R discs.
and
3) Take my home movies, recorded on both DV cam and analog cam, edit them (possibly with footage from a commercial DVD) and write those to DVD.
The tools I currently have are:
CyberLink's Power Director 3 (for video/pic editing)
Adobe After Effects (for more advanced special effects) haven't touched this yet! :P
DVDDecrypter - for backing up DVD to computer
CopytoDVD (trial) - for burning to DVD
DVDShrink - for editing/sizing DVD
MyDVD Deluxe 5.2 - for burning/editing DVD
PowerDVD 5.0 - for screencaps, etc.
How does that setup look to everyone. Do I have enough tools to accomplish my goals? Can anyone recommend something better than the one I currently have?
I now this went a little off topic (and should probably be reposted in the newbie forum). I will if I don't see any replies.
Thanks again everyone. -
DVD Shrink absolutely DOES mess with the DVD structure. I've seen it make the wrong audio to default, etc. etc.
It is simply setting the multi-angle flag... sometimes your player's setting (mine is set to NOT show the projector icon when a multi-angle scene comes up) gets overridden by the DVD. That's what you're seeing, I suspect.
