    Hi,

I've a problem burning DVD+RW and reading them on standalone player. I don't know whath is the origin of problem (media ? writer ? player ?). Then I post here.

The writer is a TEAC DV-W58E (in a DELL 8300). After some research on the web I found a firmware update : D0J (on dell web site, but not on teac, strange). I used TDK DVD+RW disc, and my player is a Samsung S224.

The problem is simple : the player doesn't recognize the burned media, or after 30 or 40 retries (sometimes never) ! But the media can be read on the PC, no problem. Does anyone encounter the same problem with same writer, player or media ?

Another question... on this writer I can only burn +RW media at 4x . I can't burner slower (to test if at 1x ou 2x the problem goes away). This problem is on any soft I used (MySonic, Nero, ...). Any tips for this on system, registry, ... ? Or it's a hard (firmware) limitation ?

Thanks for any help, advice, ...
    Sam.

your player is probably not compatible with dvd+rw media. check the dvd players list on the left to see what your player will play.

Thanks for this first reply. But no, it's not the problem. I made a minimum check here (and elsewhere on the web) before posting here 8)

On the "DVD Players" list there are many people who can read DVD+RW wihtout problem. Perhaps my player (ou something else) has a problem, but it has to be compatible. I will say that another time to my player, to be sure it's aware of that

maybe since you upgraded the firmware from dell instead of teac, that might have messed something up. try emailing customer support at dell and at teac and tell them your problem and see if you get anywhere.

btw, what are you burning? a dvd backup? a homemade movie?

I had the problem before upgrading the firmware (and still after). It's the reason I did the update.

I try different divx movies, after I will burn personal movies (from mini-DV).

I give two burned DVD+RW to a friend (with divx movies)... the two DVD are ok for him, on a "low cost" player ! He watched well one yerterday...

Now I can say the problem seems to be with my player (a bad +RW compatibility, a default, ...), or a compatibility between my player and the media I used.

    Hi,

Saturday I was in Germany because DVD are less expensive than in France. I buy a "Intenso" DVD+RW to try them.

They are not detected each times by my player, but after 2-3 retries it's ok. I also had 2 times problems (movies frozen 2-3 seconds), but nothing else. It's not perfect but it's better !

Then the conclusion seems to be a problem with some medias with my player.
