    hi guys
i have the following problem with my samsung dvd recorder. since 2-3 weeks whenever i try to record directly from the TV i get the following message "cannot record copy protected movie". i use analog signal as input for the DVD. i have a second tv box that is connected via scart to the DVD and there is no problem recording from it. but if i switch the cables and try to record from SCART i get the same message.
any ideas how to solve the problem.

PS. the signal i get is not copy protected.

PS2. is there any way to do a system restore to get the DVD to its initial status? or a reset trick?

It looks like the signal is copy protected to the samsung. Unless there's a problem with the recorder, or if you've updated the firmware and then just noticed this, it'll take some doing to sort it out.

i didnt update the firmware, and dunno if the signal is protected. i asked at another forum is the signal i get is protected, but it seemd strange to me that both analog and scart do not work with the satellite receiver, but both work with the cable one

I'm having the same problem just purchased a Samsung HR773A, the input is a SCART connector to 'AV2 (ext) IN' from a Skye satellite tuner 'VCR SCART' out. OK recording some programmes but when try to record from 'FIVER' Skye channel I get message "This timer record has been failed, source is copy protected". We are not talking about films but soaps such as 'Neighbours' and 'Home & Away'. Checked on the FIVE website Blog and it states that Skye have changed the way they encode the signals - recommends switching off the power and restarting the HR773 - did not solve my problems. Other recommendations from other blogs are to fit a Macrovision filter such as the GREX although the website does not indicate their box of tricks supports the HR773?? I am awaiting a reply from Samsung and GREX. Any other advice welcomed.
