hi, been trying to capture using pctv rave card . my system is 2.2 Celeron,
512 ram, intel extreme graphics. hardware & software loaded ok but nothing works! (can't get tv or capture facility) whenever i open an application (either the bundled 'tv' software) or try to capture (tried several different applications) i get the error message; 'encountered a problem and needs to close' Is it simply an impossibility to capture on a system using intel extreme graphics?? Suffice to say, this is all new to me.....THANKS

i had the same problem. this is becouse the tv tuners drivers will NOT work with windows xp. i know they have updated drivers on the website for win-xp but they DO NOT WORK. you need to goto the following link and download these drivers and install them then you can use virtualdub to capture and it should work fine.

Keep in mind that with the BTwincap drivers you need to capture NTSC at 712x480 to get a proper aspect ratio.

It's common proceedure to then either crop to 704x480 (which is a valid DVD resolution) or pad it up to 720x480 (also a valid DVD resolution).

Either way works just fine although it seems more standard to use 720 width than 704 width.

If you intend to do HALF D1 then capture 712x480 then crop to 704x480 then resize from 704x480 to 352x480

For HALD D1 you could also capture at 356x480 then crop to 352x480.

Works about the same either way really.

I think PAL is 712x576 but I'm not 100% on PAL ... the width might be something different than 712 for PAL.

Well most people capture to an AVI file using a codec like HuffyUV or PICVideo MJPEG so if you do that then capture as I told you.

If you want to try and capture direct to MPEG then just do 720x480 ... the aspect ratio error will be so slight that you really simply cannot tell.

However that card is not very well suited for direct to MPEG capture.

So if you are going to do AVI capture then might as well "do it right"
