    resolution-like yes, but that way VHS also compares.

    I guess you just gotta try it out with one. Personally i think they look really good. There was a MPEG-coding-competition around here a while ago, search for it in the old news, becouse that guy got a AVI movie of something he got of such a tape. (if memory serves me well)

  4. hi-8 is sony's version of s-vhs? well... that's a point of view, i guess...

    s-vhs and hi-8 are roughly equal in quality, but i prefer hi-8, as the playback equipment of s-vhs tends to be sometimes disappointing... as to converting it to svcd, if you can capture it in a res that's high enough, yes, i would suppose so you could make decent svcd's

    (to be honest, i prefer still vcd's, with some prework and long nights of computing they're quite good, getting close to svcd)
